Pay Remits
Remits are very important, as they set the pay envelope for your organisation, but they are not easy to get right. The definitions are hard to understand, the language is unusual and there are so many little rules to remember (such as excluding your Senior Civil Servants and adjusting your non-consolidated pay pot). We help organisations to get the best they can from their remit, including:
- Undertaking external pay research to develop market rates of pay for specific work groups based on your direct comparators.
- Ensuring that you have claimed everything that you should have and have counted everything in the right place.
- Making an informed and persuasive
case to justify your needs, written from
an external perspective and based on the
experience of working with others, and
- Identifying changes to your reward system that would be helpful to your remit.
Our logic is that if you lose out now, then it is very hard to recover
that loss (as next year starts from your last approved remit and the associated
out-turn). It’s therefore important to ensure that you do the best
you can within the constraints and limitations of the process within which
remits operate.
